Anders Antonsen‘s only win over Kento Momota in six meetings coincidentally came at the Indonesia Master 2019 final.

Yesterday, the Dane downed Kidambi Srikanth 21-14 21-9 in the DAIHATSU Indonesia Masters 2021 semifinal to set up a repeat of that final.

Does that mean he has a psychological advantage over the world No.1 going into today’s final at the Bali International Convention Centre?

“Maybe a little bit, but I don’t think so. I’m still down quite a lot in my head-to-head against Momota,” said Antonsen ahead of his third consecutive Indonesia Masters final.

“It’s going to be interesting for sure. My 2019 final was a breakthrough moment for me and a match I have watched back many times since. That was a crazy, good experience and hopefully, I can get one more win.

“Kento is back to his best level. Or at least very close to it. It’s going to be tough but I’m looking forward to the match.”

Two-time world champion Momota has not dropped a game throughout his Masters campaign and after making another final following his runner-up finish at VICTOR Denmark Open 2021 two weeks ago, he is looking on-form once more.

Yesterday, the 27-year-old defeated Chou Tien Chen for the ninth consecutive time. He has not lost to the Chinese Taipei shuttler since 2018.

“I feel lucky to win my matches against him,” said the Japanese first seed.
