Anthony Sinisuka Ginting was the first to exit, losing 21-16 17-21 21-14 to Prannoy H. S. after a marathon 73-minute battle.
Men’s doubles world No.1s Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto later followed suit, also going down in three games, 16-21 21-15 14-21, to Koreans Seo Seung Jae/Kang Min Hyuk in the last match of the day.
Prannoy’s last four opponent is upcoming younger compatriot Priyanshu Rajawat, who made his first Super 500 semifinal after a convincing takedown of his Thomas Cup-winning skipper Kidambi Srikanth 21-13 21-8.
Men’s doubles will also be missing its seconds seeds in the semis following Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik‘s surprising straight games defeat, 21-15 21-17, to Lu Ching Yao/Yang Po Han.
