China, Japan and Korea dominate the list of qualifiers to the HSBC BWF World Tour Finals 2023 in women’s doubles with two pairs each, while Indonesia and Thailand have each managed one spot. Of these, two pairs – Chen Qing Chen/Jia Yi Fan and Baek Ha Na/Lee So Hee – have been particularly impressive, accumulating over 100,000 points to top the HSBC Race to Finals.
Here is an overview of the performances of the eight qualifying pairs:
The Chinese had another great season winning their fourth world title, and finishing No.1 on the HSBC Race to Finals despite playing just 12 World Tour events.
Emerged the strongest Japanese pair this year as they were unbeaten against their compatriots Matsumoto/Nagahara and Yuki Fukushima/Sayaka Hirota in seven contests; they were also in five finals, winning three.
Just in their debut season on the World Tour, the Chinese showed they had the ability to take on the very best. They were in no less than seven finals, with the French Open title being the highlight.
